Wunderboy
Part of our Hassler Dressage stallion doubleheader, Wunderboy was born the same night that our Rousseau colt arrived — March 28th. Wunderboy is by Wamberto (Rousseau/ Voltaire), licensing champion and 100 day test champion son of Rousseau, so this was definitely a family event night. Wunderboy's mama is our very special elite mare Wintermaske. Fulfilling our hopes for this breeding cross, Wunderboy is an elegant and very leggy dark bay fellow, with springy, expressive gaits and an incredibly bold and friendly manner. Like his mama Winter, Wunder has a sense of humor and lots of personality. My bet is that he will also have her indomitable work ethic and willingness to try anything asked for by her humans.
As he is developing, I see so much of Winter is this lovely boy. He has her very light and airy movement, as well as the typical Winter foal's chiseled head and elegance. Until he shed out all dark nearly black chocolate brown, he was rather amusing with his striped foal coat.
He has turned out to have the exact attitude I had expected. We took him out as a yearling, where he showed in USDF DSHB classes and ended up SE Regional Champion colt/gelding, beating colts older than himself and was USDG Horse of the Year for Yearling colts and geldings with a median score of 81.5. From his first show to his last he showed a complete willingness to try anything we asked and gained a composure that reminded me so much of his mother. He is a tall yearling and his gaits have developed into something very special. With his talent and his nature, he will make someone very happy someday. He is for sale.
