Reference Sires — Wolkenstein II

Wolkenstein II

Wolkenstein II was foaled in 1990. He is by Weltmeyer out of SPS Wolke (Wendekreis/Grande/Marcio). He was reserve champion of his stallion licensing in 1992, German Riding Horse Champion in 1993, and won his Stallion Performance test that year as well. At his testing it was noted that his character is without fault, showing a great work ethic. These traits paired with a nearly flawless conformation, great charisma and great ability for dressage make him an outstanding young stallion. And he can jump! His scores were 139.60 overall, 138.89 for dressage and 124.9 for jumping. His praise would seem to be well deserved since, in just three seasons of having his own sons examined for licensing, he already has 19 licensed sons. Wolkenstein II is also a sire of great mares. Nearly 50 percent of his daughters have earned the title of States Premium mare. His daughters have earned indexes of 165 for type, 176 for limbs, 155 for dressage. He is sought as a sire of dressage horses.

In 1999 Wolkenstein's son Waterford (out of a Matcho x mare) was champion of his stallion testing, after winning his licensing the previous year. His sons Welser and Wattenkieker were vice champions of their licensing in 1997. In 1998 Welser was second in his testing, with a score of 10 for the canter. That year Wattenkieker was third overall at the same stallion testing.

Here in the states, Wolkenstein II offspring are highly sought after. His younsters are making marks for themselves at the best breed shows and under saddle.
